Widgets<\/strong><\/em> to customize the content of your GD pages.<\/p>\n<p>There is also an submission page for your users to add their listings, and an accompanying page where the submission can be previewed.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"home\"><\/a>Home page<\/h3>\n<h4><a id=\"home-features\"><\/a>FEATURES<\/h4>\n<p>The default GeoDirectory home page layout, featuring the fastest loading Google map ever built for a location based directory solution, is composed of 5 sections (See the typical layout image above).<\/p>\n<p>The map, search and popular categories are usually added to the Top Section by <a href=\"\/docs\/widgets\/\">adding the relevant widgets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Each section can be shown or hidden in the <em><strong>GD &gt; Design &gt; Home<\/strong><\/em> part of your WP admin area.<\/p>\n<p>The GD Home template is also used to create your pages for other locations, like regions and cities.<\/p>\n<p>The width of the content sections can be set in % and all 5 sections are actually widget areas, so other elements can be added and GD widgets can be moved around as you wish from the WordPress widget administration page at <em><strong>Appearance &gt; Widgets<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This template like other GD templates, can be easily customized by copying it inside your theme files, <a href=\"\/docs\/customizing-geodirectory-templates\/\">read more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"home-page\"><\/a>HOME TOP SECTION SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Geodirectory home page:<br \/>\n<\/strong><i class=\"fa fa-exclamation-triangle fa-2x\" style=\"color: red;\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">This option is now obsolete, and is now set at <a href=\"\/docs\/core-permalinks\/\">GD &gt; Permalinks<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Home top section:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This will enable and show the <em><strong>Home Top Section<\/strong><\/em> widget area, this is a full page width area on your homepage that is good for things like maps and search bars.<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"home-layout\"><\/a>HOME PAGE LAYOUT SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Home right section:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This will enable and show the \u201cHome right section\u201d widget area, this is a widget area that appear on the right side of your GD homepage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Width of home right section:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Here you can dynamically set the width of the \u201cHome right sections\u201d widget area. \u00a0You can enter the width as a percentage of the total width, you must enter a number only without the % sign, ie: 30<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home content section:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This will enable and show the \u201cHome content section\u201d widget area, this is a widget area that appear as the main content area of your GD homepage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Width of home content section:\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Here you can dynamically set the width of the \u201cHome content sections\u201d widget area. \u00a0You can enter the width as a percentage of the total width, you must enter a number only without the % sign, ie: 63<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home left section:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This will enable and show the \u201cHome left section\u201d widget area, this is a widget area that appear on the left side of your GD homepage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Width of home left section:<\/strong><br \/>\nHere you can dynamically set the width of the \u201cHome left sections\u201d widget area. \u00a0You can enter the width as a percentage of the total width, you must enter a number only without the % sign, ie: 30<\/p>\n<p><strong>Home bottom section:<\/strong><br \/>\nThis will enable and show the \u201cHome bottom section\u201d widget area, this is a widget area that appear at the bottom of your GD homepage.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"resize-image\"><\/a><strong>Resize image large size:<\/strong><br \/>\nGD scales any images uploaded to a listing, to a maximum size of 800 x 800 pixels.<br \/>\nChecking the box here will change that scaling to a\u00a0a maximum size of 1024\u00a0x 1024\u00a0pixels.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"listings\"><\/a>Listings page<\/h3>\n<h4>LISTINGS PAGE LAYOUT SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p>Just like the home (location) page, the listings page uses the 5 sections: top, left, right, content\u00a0and bottom. Refer to the comments\u00a0above for further information.<\/p>\n<h5>Upload listing no image:<\/h5>\n<p>This option lets you upload an image to use for listings when\u00a0no images are uploaded by the user.<\/p>\n<p>You can also upload default images for each category to show if the listing has no images uploaded, and that default image from the category will take priority over the image uploaded at the settings on the listings page. Navigate to your categories to upload a default image there if that is what you prefer.<\/p>\n<h5><strong><a name=\"listing-image-size\"><\/a>Listing image size:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>On the <em><strong>Listings<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Search<\/strong><\/em> pages, and in the <em><strong>Popular Post widgets<\/strong><\/em>, GD uses the featured image of a listing, which is the first of any images added to a listing:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>By default, the image used will be the full size image. The size of the full size image is set at <a href=\"#resize-image\"><em><strong>GD &gt; Design &gt; Home tab &gt;\u00a0Resize image large size<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Instead of using the full size image, you can select a smaller version here:<br \/>\n<img class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/coredesign1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>You can change the thumbnail sizes at <em><strong>WP Settings &gt; Media<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>Description word limit:<\/h5>\n<p>This option will limit the word count of the description used\u00a0on the GD category listings page if you have selected to show the listings as <em><strong>List view<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h5>Hover listing map animation:<\/h5>\n<p>Ticking this option will make the map markers bounce on the Listings map when the mouse is hovered over one of the listings on the page.<\/p>\n<h4>LISTING GENERAL SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p><strong>New listing default status:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This option will set the status of new listings added from the front end by users. You can select\u00a0from <em><strong>Publish, Pending Review <\/strong><\/em>or<em><strong> Draft<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New listings settings:<br \/>\n<\/strong>This is the number of days a listing will appear new after being added, new listings receive a \u201cNEW\u201d red tag to highlight the fact they are new, you can enter \u201c0\u2033 to disable this feature.<\/p>\n<h4>ADD LISTING FORM SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Enable &#8220;Accept Terms and Conditions&#8221;:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Check the box if users should not be able to add their listing without accepting your terms and conditions.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You will need to create a WP page first, and<\/li>\n<li>Select that page at <em><strong>GD &gt; Permalinks &gt;\u00a0Terms and Conditions page<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a id=\"wysiwyg\"><\/a><strong>Show description field as editor:\u00a0<\/strong>Here you can select the post types that will use the WYSIWYG editor on the add listings page description rather than a normal text area.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"search\"><\/a>Search page<\/h3>\n<h4>SEARCH PAGE LAYOUT SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p>Just like the home (location) page and the listings (category) page, the search\u00a0page uses the 5 sections: top, left, right, content\u00a0and bottom. Refer to the comments\u00a0above for further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Search content section view:<\/strong>\u00a0Specific to the search page, you can choose the default display of the results, different grid views or list view.<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"search-param\"><\/a>SEARCH FORM DEFAULT TEXT SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p>This is where you can adjust the default text used in the <em><strong>GD Search widget<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/search.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"how\"><\/a>How does the GD search work?<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>When you enter a location in the <em><strong>Near<\/strong><\/em> field, GD will calculate the center of that location.<\/li>\n<li>GD then will look for all listings within an area with a\u00a0default that match the <em><strong>Search for<\/strong><\/em> criteria.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><strong>Search for<\/strong><\/em> criteria:\u00a0GD will check the\u00a0entry\u00a0titles, description and taxonomies (tags and categories) of the listings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Your default search area is set at <em><strong><a href=\"\/docs\/core-general\/#search\">GD &gt; General &gt; Search<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>The search is not an <em><strong>IN<\/strong><\/em> search, but a search <em><strong>NEAR THE CENTER OF<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Examples, assuming your search area\u00a0is set to 40 square miles (which equates to an area with about a 6 mile radius, not a 40 mile radius!):\n<ul>\n<li>If you enter <em><strong>World Trade Center<\/strong><\/em>, you will get listings around that building.<\/li>\n<li>If you enter United States, you will get listings somewhere around Buffalo in Kansas, because that is where Google situates the center of the United States.<\/li>\n<li>If you enter California,\u00a0you will get listings somewhere\u00a0in the Sierra National Forest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a id=\"detail\"><\/a>Detail (single listing) page<\/h3>\n<h4>DETAIL\/SINGLE PAGE SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Detail top section:\u00a0<\/strong>This will enable and show the \u201cDetail Top Section\u201d widget area, this is a full page width area on your GD detail page that is good for things like maps and search bars.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detail bottom section:\u00a0<\/strong>This will enable and show the \u201cListing bottom section\u201d widget area, this is a widget area that appear at the bottom of your GD detail page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detail sidebar section on left side:<\/strong> The sidebar on the detail page is by default on the right hand side. Check this box to move the sidebar to the left of the page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable GD modal:<\/strong>\u00a0When you click on any of the photos in the photo tab, the photo will normally open in a\u00a0lightbox. Check to disable.<br \/>\n<img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/lightbox.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable Tweet, Fb Like, Google+ buttons section:<\/strong> Removes this section from the sidebar<br \/>\n<img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/fb.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable share this button section:<\/strong>\u00a0Removes this section from the sidebar<br \/>\n<img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/share.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable Google Analytics section:<\/strong> Removes the ability to display Anlytics to your users.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable User Links section:<\/strong>\u00a0Removes this section from the sidebar<br \/>\n<img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/fav.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable Rating Info section:<\/strong> Removes this section from the sidebar<br \/>\n<img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/review1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Disable Listing Info section:<\/strong>\u00a0Removes this section from the sidebar<br \/>\n<img src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/06\/info.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"detail-tab\"><\/a>DETAIL PAGE TAB SETTINGS<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Exclude selected tabs from detail page:<\/strong>\u00a0GD detail pages come with a few default tabs, see image. This tab shows either listings with the same\u00a0categories or tags to the listing being viewed. You can enable on a per custom post type basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relate to:\u00a0<\/strong>This option sets the related listings to be selected by either the same category or the same tags.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Layout:\u00a0<\/strong>This gives you several options of how you want listings to appear on your related listings tab, you can select either 2,3,4,5 to a row or <em><strong>List view<\/strong><\/em> which is only 1 per line as a list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sort by:\u00a0<\/strong>This option lets you sort the related listings tab by either <em><strong>Latest<\/strong><\/em> (newest added), <em><strong>Featured<\/strong><\/em> (featured first), <em><strong>Review\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(number of reviews), <em><strong>Rating<\/strong><\/em> (highest rating) or <em><strong>Random<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number of posts:\u00a0<\/strong>Here you can set how many listings maximum will be shown in the related listings tab.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Post excerpt:\u00a0<\/strong>This is the character\u00a0count that will be used for the description in the related listings tab if your layout is <em><strong>List View <\/strong><\/em>or<em><strong> Grid View (Two Columns)<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"author\"><\/a>Author page<\/h3>\n<p>The author page shows all listings and favorites of your users, and allows your users to edit, upgrade (if you use the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/addons\/prices-and-payments\/\">Prices and Payments addon<\/a>) or delete their listings.<\/p>\n<p>Just like the home (location) page and the listings (category) page, the search\u00a0page uses the 5 sections: top, left, right, content\u00a0and bottom.
