<\/a>General<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Places<\/strong><\/em> is the name of the default Custom Post Type (CPT) installed as part of the GD core installation.<\/li>\n
  2. It is like the top category for listings in your GD directory.<\/li>\n
  3. The information on this page is also relevant for any other CPT you install when you use the Custom Post Types add-on<\/a> or the Events add-on<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/a>Custom Fields<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. When you go to GD > Place Settings<\/strong><\/em>, you will see a tab with Custom Fields.<\/li>\n
    2. You will see a number of default\u00a0custom fields already, like Category, Address, Website etc.<\/li>\n
    3. You can add also your own fields, by choosing from the list of available types on the left hand side.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      <\/a>Common settings for Custom Fields<\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
      Admin title<\/td>\nThis title is only used to give a name to the Custom Field in the Custom Field settings area.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      <\/a>Frontend title<\/td>\nThis title is used on both the submission form and on the page where you choose the field to be displayed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Frontend description<\/td>\nWill be used on the submission form only, to help your users understand the information required.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      HTML\u00a0variable\u00a0name<\/td>\nOnly used to create the custom field in your database.
      \nDo not use spaces or special characters for this! <\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      <\/a>Is active<\/td>\nTurns the field on or off across your site.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      <\/a>For Admin use only?<\/td>\nChoosing YES here, will not allow your users to edit the field; only administrators will be able to edit this field.
      \n<\/i> This option is only available for custom fields you create yourself, not for the default GD fields.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Default value<\/td>\nA value used if the user does not enter anything.
      \nOnly relevant for some Custom Field types.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      <\/a>Show in what locations?<\/td>\nOptions here include:<\/p>\n

      1. Details page sidebar:<\/strong> Adds it to the sidebar of the detail page of the listing<\/li>\n
      2. More info tab:<\/strong> Adds the custom field to the “More info” tab
        \n\"\"<\/li>\n
      3. Listings page: <\/strong>Adds the custom field to the listing display on the listings page (category page) and the search pages, and the Popular Post widgets.
        \n\"\"<\/li>\n
      4. Details page own tab:<\/strong> Selecting this for a fieldset<\/strong><\/em> will create a new tab, selecting this for a custom field<\/strong><\/em> will show the custom field under the fieldset with the same setting above it
        \n\"\"<\/li>\n
      5. Map bubble:<\/strong> Adds the custom field to the listings infowindows on every map
        \n\"\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Show only on these price packages?<\/td>\nThis will only show if you have the Prices and Payments<\/a> add-on activated.
      \nYou can choose which price packages will be able to add this custom field.
      \nIf you have chosen the allowed fields in the price package itself already, then you do not need to set this again.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Is required<\/td>\nSetting this to YES will make the field compulsory.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Required message<\/td>\nIf you set Is required<\/strong><\/em> to YES, then enter a message that will be displayed if the field is left empty.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Upload icon<\/td>\nYou can enter the URL of an icon you uploaded, or you can use a font awesome<\/strong><\/em><\/a> class.
      \nExamples:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
      Entering fa fa-book<\/strong><\/em> will add an icon like this: <\/i><\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Entering fa fa-camera-retro fa-3x<\/strong><\/em> will add an icon like this: <\/i><\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      CSS class:<\/td>\nHere you can add a styling class that will be applied to the custom field when it is displayed on your site.
      \nEvery custom field is displayed in its own <div><\/strong><\/em>, and the class will be added to that.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Include this field in sort option<\/td>\nThis will allow for listings on your listings and search pages, to be sorted by this field. Read more at Sorting Options<\/a>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
      Include this field in advanced search<\/td>\nThis will only show if you have the Advanced Search<\/a> add-on activated.
      \nThis will add the custom field as a possible filter to the GD Search<\/strong><\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      <\/a>Fieldset<\/h4>\n
        \n
      1. A fieldset helps you to group your custom fields.<\/li>\n
      2. It is very much like a heading or a divider.<\/li>\n
      3. A fieldset is only used to display on your pages, users cannot add data to it.<\/li>\n
      4. If you select Details page own tab <\/strong>at the Show in what locations?<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0selections, then a new tab will be created for the custom fields ordered under this fieldset, and which also have Details page own tab <\/strong>selected.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        <\/a>Text Custom Field<\/h4>\n
          \n
        1. Character type:<\/strong>\n
            \n
          1. Choose this type of field and your users will be able to enter any combination of letter, numbers, symbols etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
          2. Number type:<\/strong>\n
              \n
            1. This type will return any number as a whole number only.<\/li>\n
            2. For example if you enter 55.65<\/strong><\/em>, the field will display 55<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
            3. Decimal type:<\/strong>\n
                \n
              1. This type will return any number with your choice of numbers behind the decimal point.<\/li>\n
              2. For example if you have selected the decimal point as 3, and you enter 49.2<\/strong><\/em>, the field will display 49.200<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                <\/a>Multi Select Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                  \n
                1. The Multi Select field allows your users to select a number of entries from a list you create.<\/li>\n
                2. You have the choice of three display types: Select, Checkbox <\/strong><\/em>and Radio<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n
                3. Both Select<\/strong><\/em> and Checkbox<\/strong><\/em> allow your users to choose more than one item from your list.<\/li>\n
                4. The Radio<\/strong><\/em> display type is used if your users should be restricted to one selection only.<\/li>\n
                5. <\/i> You cannot use\u00a0the following characters as part of your options: forward slash \/<\/strong><\/span> or a comma ,<\/strong><\/span>
                  \n(these characters\u00a0are reserved for separating options and code).<\/span><\/li>\n
                6. <\/i> Do not leave spaces between values when separated with commas.<\/span><\/li>\n
                7. This is an example of a setup of a Multi Select custom field
                  \n\"\"<\/li>\n
                8. This is how that would look on the submission form:
                  \n\"\"<\/li>\n
                9. The same setup, but with Checkbox<\/strong><\/em> as the display type, would look like this on the submission form:
                  \n\"\"<\/li>\n
                10. And this would be the result on the listing:
                  \n\"\"<\/li>\n
                11. Using the same settings as above, but adding\u00a0gd-comma-list<\/strong><\/em> in the CSS class field<\/strong><\/em>, the output would look like this:
                  \n\"\"<\/li>\n
                12. Using the Radio display type, only one choice will be possible:
                  \n\"\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  <\/a>Select Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                    \n
                  1. The Select Custom Field allows your users to select one option only<\/strong><\/em> from a list.<\/li>\n
                  2. <\/i> Select Custom Fields can also be added to the GD Search Bar.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
                  3. <\/i> You cannot use\u00a0the following characters as part of your options: forward slash \/<\/strong><\/span> or a comma ,<\/strong><\/span>

                  4. Example 1:<\/strong>\n

                    2. You can allow a number of possible choices<\/li>\n
                    3. Option values:<\/strong> Coffee,Tea,Coffee and Tea<\/li>\n
                    4. When adding the listing, the user can choose only one of these choices (assume they choose “Coffee and Tea”, and the result will look like this:

                    5. Example 2:<\/strong>\n
                        \n
                      1. Frontend Title:<\/strong> Service offered<\/li>\n
                      2. You can enter the possible choices as options, and add more detailed text to be printed on the detail page<\/li>\n
                      3. Option values:<\/strong> Dog walking\/We will walk your dog,Dog washing\/Dogs shampooed and blowdried<\/li>\n
                      4. When adding the listing, this is what the user sees:

                      5. The user can choose only one of these choices (assume they choose “Dog washing”, and the result will look like this:
                        \n\"\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                        <\/a>Textarea\u00a0Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                          \n
                        1. A textarea field allows for free-flowing text.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          <\/a>Checkbox\u00a0Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                            \n
                          1. This allows a user to simply check a box, and then it will add the custom field title and the word Yes<\/strong><\/em> to the listing.<\/li>\n
                          2. Example:<\/strong>
                            \n\"checkbox\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                            <\/a>Radio Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                              \n
                            1. Similar to the Select Custom Field<\/a>, but only requires a radio button to be selected.<\/li>\n
                            2. <\/i> Do not leave spaces between values when separated with commas.<\/span><\/li>\n
                            3. Example:<\/strong>\n
                                \n
                              1. Frontend Title: <\/strong>Available<\/li>\n
                              2. You can allow a number of possible choices, but the user can only select one of them<\/li>\n
                              3. Option values:<\/strong>\u00a0Beer,Wine,Beer and Wine
                                \n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                <\/a>URL Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                  \n
                                1. Allows your users to add additional links to their listing.<\/li>\n
                                2. Example 1:<\/strong>\n
                                    \n
                                  1. Frontend Title: <\/strong>Click here to visit our forum<\/li>\n
                                  2. If they then enter their URL, it will look like this and will be linked:
                                    \n\"url\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                                  3. Example 2:<\/strong>\n
                                      \n
                                    1. Frontend Title: <\/strong>Click here<\/li>\n
                                    2. Your users can create links in this format: URL|anchor text<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
                                    3. For example when entering\u00a0https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com|GeoDirectory documentation<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>it will add a link like this:
                                      \n\"\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                      <\/a>File Upload Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                        \n
                                      1. Allow your users to upload most types of file.<\/li>\n
                                      2. You can select the type of file that can be uploaded: Image, video, audio files and document types.<\/li>\n
                                      3. Example:<\/strong>
                                        \n\"menu\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                        <\/a>Date Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                          \n
                                        1. This will add a date picker to the Add Listing<\/strong><\/em> form.<\/li>\n
                                        2. You can choose how the date will be displayed by adjusting the date format field:\n
                                            \n
                                          1. dd\/mm\/y = 02\/10\/15<\/li>\n
                                          2. mm-dd-yy =\u00a010-02-2015<\/li>\n
                                          3. dd-M-yy = 02-Oct-2015<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                                          4. Example on Add Listing<\/strong><\/em> form:
                                            \n\"date\"<\/li>\n
                                          5. Result on detail page:
                                            \n\"date\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                            <\/a>Time\u00a0Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                              \n
                                            1. Similar to the date field, the Time custom field will allow your users to select a time of day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                              <\/a>Phone\u00a0Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                                \n
                                              1. This field will make any phone number entered clickable and will connect with the relevant application on the device where the visitor is browsing your website.<\/li>\n
                                              2. For example, this allows you to add extra\u00a0phone fields for cell phones or office phone etc, in addition to the default phone field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                <\/a>Email\u00a0Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                                  \n
                                                1. This field will just print an email address as part of the listing.<\/li>\n
                                                2. This is not the same as the default custom field for each listing, which will accept an email and create an online contact popup with a hidden email address.<\/li>\n
                                                3. Example:
                                                  \n\"email\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                  <\/a>HTML\u00a0Custom Field<\/h4>\n
                                                    \n
                                                  1. This will add a textarea complete with a visual and text rich text editor, just like your post or page editor in your WordPresss admin area.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                    <\/a>Sorting Options<\/h3>\n

                                                    In your Place Settings<\/strong><\/em> (or the settings of any other Custom Post Type) you have a tab called Sorting Options<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

                                                    \"sorting<\/p>\n

                                                      \n
                                                    1. The Sorting Options<\/strong><\/em> control how listings are ordered on your Listings (category) pages and in your search results<\/strong>.
                                                      \n<\/i> On the Search pages, only the default sort order will be used, and only if no keywords were used in the search.<\/span><\/li>\n
                                                    2. On the left hand side of the settings page, you will find a number of sorting options ready for you:
                                                      \n\"\"<\/li>\n
                                                    3. You can add more options by going to your Custom Fields<\/strong>, and ticking the\u00a0Include this field in sort option<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0checkbox\u00a0for the custom field you want to add to the sorting options.<\/li>\n
                                                    4. Click on any of the available sorting options on the left to make them available for sorting on\u00a0your listings pages. Only the default option will be used in your search results.<\/li>\n
                                                    5. That will move the sorting options to the right hand side of the options page, and now you can edit the settings for the sorting options you have chosen.
                                                      \nExample:

                                                    6. Edit the settings by clicking the sorting option, and then save.
                                                      \nYou can drag and drop the different field types to change the order in the sorting drop down on your pages.
                                                      \nSetting one of the options as default, will automatically sort by that option.
