Do you ever wanted to have your own website like Yelp? \u00a0Don’t worry.. We have got you covered. GeoDirectory’s Whoop theme makes your GeoDirectory powered site look like a yelp clone as close as possible. Sounds cool eh..? Alright.. Its time to\u00a0get our hands dirty. This documentation assumes that you have a fresh WordPress installation. Let’s get started.<\/p>\n

Prerequisites<\/h4>\n

Before installing our theme, lets install its\u00a0dependencies.<\/p>\n

          IMPORTANT<\/strong><\/p>\n

          If used with GD + BBpress + BuddyPress and possibly several add-ons, this is no tool for a shared hosting or the average VPS. Having a Directory, Forum and Social Network requires resources so make sure to use at least a High End VPS or a beefier Dedicated Server.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Permalinks Configuration<\/h4>\n

          Navigate to Settings<\/strong><\/em> > Permalinks<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0>\u00a0Common Settings. <\/strong><\/em>Make sure\u00a0Post name <\/strong><\/em>is selected.<\/p>\n

          GeoDirectory Installation<\/h4>\n
            \n
          1. Navigate to Plugins<\/strong><\/em> > Add New<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
          2. Search for GeoDirectory – Ultimate Business Directory<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
          3. Install it<\/li>\n
          4. GeoDirectory needs at least one location in order to work. So\u00a0Set a default location\u00a0first by following this tutorial<\/a>. ( Tip<\/strong>: If you need multi locations, check our MultiLocations<\/a> addon )<\/li>\n
          5. You must set GeoDirectory Pages. \u00a0Navigate to Geodirectory<\/strong><\/em> > Permalinks<\/strong><\/em> > Geodirectory Pages<\/strong><\/em> and set the pages<\/li>\n

                                  Heads Up!<\/h4>\n

                                  If you are planning to use BuddyPress, please install it first before installing whoop theme, since whoop creates\u00a0some BuddyPress custom fields while theme activation. If you don’t do that, you may have to deactivate and activate the theme again and when you do that, your widget settings might get lost.<\/p>\n

                                  Theme Installation<\/h4>\n

                                  Please follow this tutorial<\/a> to install the theme.<\/p>\n

                                  Menus<\/h4>\n

                                  Whoop has 2 menu locations.<\/p>\n

                                  The Main Menu<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

                                  For each menu location, please create a menu and assign to the location by following this tutorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n

                                  Basic\u00a0Configuration<\/h4>\n

                                  Lets make sure we have some basic\u00a0settings in order to make our theme work properly.<\/p>\n

                                    \n
                                  1. Would you like to add Add listing<\/strong>\u00a0( Ex. Add Hotel<\/em><\/strong> ) and View Listing<\/strong>\u00a0( Ex. Hotels<\/strong><\/em> ) links to the Main Menu? If Yes<\/strong>\u00a0Navigate to Geodirectory<\/strong><\/em> > Design<\/strong><\/em> > Navigation<\/strong><\/em> > Show geodirectory navigation in selected menu locations<\/strong><\/em> > Select The Main Menu<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                    Header<\/h4>\n

                                    If you have followed our instructions correctly so far, then your current header might look similar to this screenshot.<\/p>\n

                                    Upload your logo<\/h5>\n

                                    We believe, you are interested in adding your logo. If this is the case, navigate to Whoop Options<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0>\u00a0Header Styling Options <\/strong><\/em>>\u00a0Site Logo,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>then\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>upload your logo there by clicking upload<\/strong><\/em> button.\u00a0Recommended logo size would be\u00a0160px width and 60px height. Make sure you click Save Changes<\/strong><\/em> button after setting\u00a0your logo.<\/p>\n

                                    If you refresh your home page, now the header might look like this.<\/p>\n

                                    Add search box<\/h5>\n

                                    Ok Lets add the search box in header.<\/p>\n

                                      \n
                                    1. Navigate to Appearance<\/strong><\/em> > Widgets<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
                                    2. Click on “GD > Search<\/strong><\/em>” widget. A popup will appear with a\u00a0list of widget locations.<\/li>\n
                                    3. Scroll to the bottom of the popup. You will see a widget location named GD Header Right.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Click on it. Make sure its checked. Then click Add Widget<\/strong><\/em> button. Refer the following screenshot.<\/li>\n

                                    5. Thats it. Now refresh your home page. Your header might look like this.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                      Voila. Header part completed. That wasn’t so hard. Was it?<\/p>\n

                                      Footer<\/h4>\n

                                      Footer Widgets<\/h5>\n
                                        \n
                                      1. Navigate to\u00a0Whoop Options<\/strong><\/em> > Footer Styling Options<\/strong><\/em> > Enable footer widget areas<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
                                      2. Select the number of footer widget you need.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                        In our case we selected 4. So the Footer has 4 widget locations.<\/p>\n

                                        So we need 4 menu widgets for our footer.<\/p>\n

                                        1. Create 4 new menus by following this tutorial<\/a>\u00a0 But\u00a0d<\/strong>on’t set them to any menu location.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
                                        2. You will see a widget called Custom Menu <\/strong><\/em>in Appearance<\/strong> <\/em>> Widgets<\/strong><\/em> section.<\/li>\n

                                        4. Add\u00a0that Custom Menu widget in all 4 widget locations and select menu for each widget location.<\/li>\n

                                          Copyright Text<\/h5>\n

                                          Most likely, you would like to change your copyright text. If this is the case Navigate to Whoop Options<\/strong><\/em> > Footer Styling Options<\/strong><\/em> > Copyright Text<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

                                          In that textarea field, clear everything and then enter your new copyright text. You can copy and paste the following\u00a0text and alter as you prefer.<\/p>\n

                                          If you assign any menu to Footer Links<\/strong><\/em> menu location, then it will be displayed on the right side of copyright area.<\/p>\n

                                          Add some listings<\/h4>\n

                                          Navigate to Places<\/strong><\/em> > Add New<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to add some listings. Please add at least 10 listings. If you are in a hurry then navigate to Geodirectory<\/strong><\/em> > General<\/strong><\/em> > Dummy Data<\/strong><\/em> and then populate your site with some dummy data which can be deleted later.<\/p>\n

                                          Tip<\/strong>: By default GeoDirectory supports only one post type called Places<\/strong><\/em>. So if you are planning to add more post types like Hotels, Restaurants, Bars etc., then check our Custom Post Types<\/a> addon.<\/p>\n

                                                                BuddyPress Profile Fields<\/h4>\n

                                                                BuddyPress profile can be Edited from Account settings<\/strong><\/em> > Profile Info<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

                                                                Some profile fields are automatically created when you activate whoop theme. ( BuddyPress must be activated before activating whoop theme. So If you don’t see any profile fields, activate some other theme and then activate whoop again )<\/p>\n

                                                                To add more fields or Delete existing fields, Navigate to Users<\/strong><\/em> > Profile Fields<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

                                                                  By default user can post unlimited number of reviews on a listing. If you would like to limit 1 review for each listing, then navigate too Whoop Options<\/strong><\/em> > Review Settings <\/strong><\/em>>\u00a0Limit 1 Review \/ User \/ Post \u00a0> Enabled<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

                                                                  Whoop theme is one of the Geodirectory Framework themes. Each Geodirectory Framework theme is translated with the same textdomain for the language file. <\/p>\n
