{"id":22564,"date":"2016-07-18T10:21:56","date_gmt":"2016-07-18T10:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/?p=22564"},"modified":"2016-07-18T10:21:56","modified_gmt":"2016-07-18T10:21:56","slug":"updating-your-language-files","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/updating-your-language-files\/","title":{"rendered":"Updating your language files"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes after an update of any of the GD plugins, you will find new words on your website and you cannot find how to translate them when looking in your language files.<\/p>\n<p>This is because when a\u00a0GD plugin is updated, the language file will have new\u00a0language strings added.<\/p>\n<p>This article explains how to merge the new language file with your PO and MO files already translated.<\/p>\n<p>For this example, we will use a French GD core language file we\u00a0need to update.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download the latest language file from the plugin:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/07\/trans5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"733\" height=\"194\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Navigate to your existing translate PO file:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/07\/trans6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"733\" height=\"193\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Open the <em><strong>geodirectory-fr_FR.po<\/strong><\/em> file with <a href=\"https:\/\/poedit.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">PoEdit<\/a>:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/07\/trans7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"131\" \/><\/li>\n<li>From the PoEdit menu, click <em><strong>Catalogue<\/strong><\/em> and then <em><strong>Update from POT file &#8230;<\/strong><\/em> :<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/07\/trans8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"562\" height=\"103\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Browse to the PO file you downloaded at step 1, and <em><strong>Open<\/strong><\/em>:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/07\/trans9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"473\" height=\"195\" \/><\/li>\n<li>That will merge the new language strings with your translated file.
