These terms are not interchangeable: browsing is not the same as searching, and searching is not the same as browsing.<\/p>\n<h4><a name=\"browsing\"><\/a>Browsing<\/h4>\n<p>Browsing is when a visitor or you <em><strong>follow the links as presented<\/strong><\/em> in menus, or on maps, or anywhere on a page, for example<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If your site uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/downloads\/location-manager\/\">Location Manager<\/a>, you can navigate locations by selecting a location from the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/multilocations\/#main\">location switcher in the menu<\/a>:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/04\/css5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"149\" \/><\/li>\n<li>You can follow links from the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/widgets\/#popular-post-cat\">Popular Categories widget<\/a>:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/01\/nav2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"42\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><a name=\"searching\"><\/a>Searching<\/h4>\n<p>Searching is when a visitor uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/widgets\/#search\"><em><strong>GD Search<\/strong><\/em><\/a> to find one or more listings in your directory:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/01\/nav3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"52\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"search\"><\/a>The basic GD Search function<\/h3>\n<h4>Using the \u201cSearch for\u201d\u00a0field only<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>GD will check the\u00a0entry\u00a0<strong>titles, description and taxonomies (tags and categories)<\/strong> of the listings.<\/li>\n<li>The results will be listed in order of relevance depending on the keyword(s) entered.<\/li>\n<li>For example, if you only search for &#8220;<strong>hotel<\/strong><em>&#8220;<\/em>, the results will be returned with listings that have hotel in the title first, etc:\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Search:<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/01\/nav4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"484\" height=\"53\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>Results:<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/01\/nav5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"657\" height=\"89\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If a visitor clicks <em><strong>Search<\/strong><\/em> without adding any keywords, the results will be ordered based on the settings at <em><strong>GD &gt; Place [or other CPT] Settings &gt; Sorting Options tab<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><a id=\"near\"><\/a>Using the &#8220;Near&#8221; field only<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>When you enter a location in the <em><strong>Near<\/strong><\/em> field, GD will calculate the center of that location.<\/li>\n<li>GD then will look for all listings within an area with a\u00a0default that match the <em><strong>Search for<\/strong><\/em> criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Your default search area is set at <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/core-general\/#search\">GD &gt; General &gt; Search<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>The default GD search is not an <em><strong>IN<\/strong><\/em> search, but a search <em><strong>NEAR THE CENTER OF<\/strong><\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>For example, assuming your site has listings in New York, and you enter &#8220;<strong>World Trade Center<\/strong>&#8221; in the Near field, the results will return all listings in order of proximity to the World Trade Center:\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Search:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/01\/nav6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"412\" height=\"53\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Results:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"greenborder\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/01\/nav7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"657\" height=\"105\" \/><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Using both the\u00a0\u201cSearch for\u201d and the\u00a0&#8220;Near&#8221;
