As a guide, upload landscape photos at least 1024 pixels wide, and wider if your theme shows listing images across a wide full-width area.

GeoDirectory uses the standard WordPress image sizes. When an image is uploaded, WordPress creates smaller copies at the sizes in Settings > Media, and GeoDirectory picks one of those copies for each place it shows an image. GD > Post Images uses the medium_large size (768 pixels wide by default) unless you choose another, and the lightbox opens the large size (1024 pixels by default). An image smaller than those sizes is shown at its own size or stretched, which is why small uploads look blurry.

Things to keep in mind

GD > Post Images shows images in a 16:9 frame by default, so landscape photos close to that shape fill it best. You can change the frame with its Aspect ratio option.

GeoDirectory limits each upload to the Max upload file size set in GeoDirectory > Settings > General, 2 MB by default. Your server’s PHP upload limit applies as well.

WordPress scales down uploads larger than 2560 pixels, so there is no benefit in uploading images straight from a camera at full size.

Showing a different size

To change the size used in a template, edit the GD > Post Images element and pick an Image size. See How to Resize GD Post Images. If you change the sizes in Settings > Media, images you have already uploaded keep their old copies until you regenerate them, for example with the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.

GeoDirectory has no required image size.
