When a recurring package subscription is cancelled, Pricing Manager sets the listing’s expiry date to the end of that period and leaves it published. If the subscription was cancelled during a free trial, the listing expires straight away.

When the expiry date arrives, the listing moves to the package’s downgrade package if you set one, otherwise it expires. See How to set up downgrade to a free package and Understanding expired and closed listings.

Can users cancel a subscription themselves?

Yes. GeoDirectory takes package payments through GetPaid, and GetPaid gives customers a Subscriptions page (the
[wpinv_subscriptions]
shortcode) where they can cancel any active subscription of their own. As the site admin you can see and manage every subscription under GetPaid > Subscriptions. See Can a user cancel their subscription?.

Selling a fixed term, such as 6 months

You cannot stop a customer from cancelling, and a payment provider will stop charging when they do. If you need a commitment for a fixed term, set the package up so the customer never gets time they have not paid for:

Charge the whole term up front: set the Package Lifetime to 6 months and leave Is Recurring? unticked.

Or charge monthly for a set number of payments: tick Is Recurring? and set Recurring limit to the number of payments. A limit of 0 keeps billing until the subscription is cancelled.

With monthly billing a customer can still cancel before the last payment, but their listing then ends at the end of the last month they paid for.
