OpenStreetMap is mapped by volunteers, and many buildings have no house number recorded. When Nominatim only knows the street, Set Address on Map fills in the street name without the number. Postcodes and other parts of the address can come back in an unexpected format for the same reason.

Fixing the address on a listing

Type the address, click Set Address on Map, then check the street field and add the house number by hand before you save. The pin position and the address fields are saved separately, so correcting the text does not move the pin.

If you drag the pin to the right building afterwards, check the address fields again, because moving the pin can update them from OpenStreetMap.

Add the missing house number to OpenStreetMap at openstreetmap.org. Once it is in their data, lookups for that address include it.

Stop the map from changing the address fields

The Location Manager add-on has two settings in its Add Listing section: Disable set address on map from changing address fields, and Disable move map pin from changing address fields. With these on, the map only places the pin and leaves the address as the user typed it. The settings carry a warning that they are meant for special cases, so add a few test listings after turning them on and check the city and region still save correctly.

Use Google for address lookups

If OpenStreetMap is missing too many house numbers in your area, you can use Google for the address lookups and still show OpenStreetMap maps.
