With <strong>Country, Region, City, <\/strong>and<strong> Neighborhood support<\/strong>, users can <strong>browse and add listings anywhere<\/strong> they want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-blockstrap-blockstrap-widget-alert d-flex align-items-center fade show alert alert-info mb-3\" role=\"alert\"><span class=\"fas fa-info-circle me-2\"><\/span><span class=\"flex-grow-1\">For a <strong>full list of features see<\/strong> the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/downloads\/location-manager\/\">Location Manager product page.<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>first step<\/strong> if you haven&#8217;t already, is to <strong>install the Location Manager.<\/strong> This can be done by following our guides on <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/article\/category\/installing-extensions\/\">how to install an extension.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1 &#8211; Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Once installed and activated<\/strong>, you can find the Location Manager settings at <strong>GeoDirectory &gt; Settings &gt; Locations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/file-Bp1ZzFu4wv.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/file-Bp1ZzFu4wv.png 686w, https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/file-Bp1ZzFu4wv-300x52.png 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"686\" height=\"120\">The Location manager comes with <strong>sane defaults<\/strong> meaning the <strong>default settings will work for the majority of users<\/strong>, however, there are many customizations that can be done via the settings, for a full explanation of what all the settings do please see our <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/article\/location-manager\/settings-overview-for-locations-settings\/\">settings overview.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wish to <strong>limit your directory to only certain locations<\/strong> you can set those from here, <strong>see the settings overview linked above<\/strong> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 &#8211; Permalinks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you can add listings to multiple locations you may want to <strong>adjust the listings permalinks to show the location<\/strong> they are in.&nbsp; You can do this by visiting the standard WordPress Permalinks settings page under <strong>Settings &gt; Permalinks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By default locations are not set in the URL structure, these options give you the ability to select <strong>pre-defined options or to set a custom variation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/file-JPsyqXKTr4.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3 &#8211; Location Switcher<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that your directory has <strong>multiple locations<\/strong> you will want to<strong> let your users switch between locations<\/strong> to be able to <strong>browse listings by country, region, city, or neighborhood.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The location switcher is available in many forms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Menu Item<br><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shortcode<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Widget<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Block (Gutenberg)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is always good to have the switcher available in the main menu, and if required you can also add it to a sidebar or footer area as needed.
