{"id":757,"date":"2025-03-24T14:27:36","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T14:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/article\/can-i-add-listings-without-an-address\/"},"modified":"2025-04-03T15:23:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T14:23:57","slug":"can-i-add-listings-without-an-address","status":"publish","type":"gd_place","link":"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/article\/location-manager\/can-i-add-listings-without-an-address\/","title":{"rendered":"Can I add listings without an address?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-blockstrap-blockstrap-widget-alert d-flex align-items-center fade show alert alert-info mb-3\" role=\"alert\"><span class=\"fas fa-info-circle me-2\"><\/span><span class=\"flex-grow-1\">You can create a Custom Post Type for <strong>listings without addresses<\/strong>.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-blockstrap-blockstrap-widget-alert d-flex align-items-center fade show alert alert-warning mb-3\" role=\"alert\"><span class=\"fas fa-exclamation-triangle me-2\"><\/span><span class=\"flex-grow-1\">You will need the <strong>Location Manager<\/strong> and <strong>Custom Post Type<\/strong> extensions.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two different options for this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 1 (remove all address data)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-blockstrap-blockstrap-widget-alert d-flex align-items-center fade show alert alert-info mb-3\" role=\"alert\"><span class=\"fas fa-info-circle me-2\"><\/span><span class=\"flex-grow-1\">This option is best if none of your listings in the CPT require an address.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To <strong>remove address fields<\/strong> for one of your Custom Post Types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to your <strong>Custom Post Type<\/strong>, for example Places<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <strong>General<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>Advanced Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tick the <strong>Disable physical location box<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-blockstrap-blockstrap-widget-alert d-flex align-items-center fade show alert alert-danger mb-3\" role=\"alert\"><span class=\"fas fa-exclamation-triangle me-2\"><\/span><span class=\"flex-grow-1\"><strong>This cannot be reversed!<\/strong> If you already have address data for listings it will <strong>ALL BE DELETED<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/file-QbzjBdaOgu.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Option 2 (make address inputs optional)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-blockstrap-blockstrap-widget-alert d-flex align-items-center fade show alert alert-info mb-3\" role=\"alert\"><span class=\"fas fa-info-circle me-2\"><\/span><span class=\"flex-grow-1\">This option is best if you have mixed listings where some require an address and others don&#8217;t. You also have the option for a <a href=\"https:\/\/wpgeodirectory.com\/documentation\/article\/how-tos\/how-to-set-up-private-address\/\">Private Address<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In your CPT custom field settings under <strong>Places > Settings > Custom Fields<\/strong>; <br>Select the <strong>Address<\/strong> field and <strong>uncheck<\/strong> the <strong>&#8220;required&#8221;<\/strong> option.
