The theme seems to work great but I can’t figure out why my submit listing page background is not appearing right.

you mean it is dark grey rather than white?
In this case, I think your theme needs some tweak in order to work well with GD, you can find the settings page in the Theme Compatibility section, and here for documentation

This thing require some custom modifications, I’ve added some of the entry in your Theme Compatibility section to give you an idea how it works.
