Would it be better to actually do a new installation of WP to create the directory instead of having it in the main directory?

I would like to create a directory of massage schools, but want to keep all the other posts etc.

You should be able to just install just the same as any other plugins, and set your GD homepage not the same as your website homepage.

2 installations will mean you can’t share your existing users etc.
