I’ve just deacticated geodirectories addons, updated the core plugin, then reactivated everything, and above my whole website I now have this mess showing;

please see http://www.thehouseofdog.co.uk

Can someone please look at this urgently. This has happened before but not as bad, I only updated as the map wasn’t working again, so I assumed an update must be needed, looked and there were a few updates.

I thought this plugin was free to use forever even once your subscription ends, so long as you don’t update addons? I’m confused because there seem to be frequent updates and if I don’t do them everything stops working!

Please can someone take a look asap as I’ve spent a whole morning marketing my new directory, and now the site looks like a bombs hit it which is really bad for trying to build a reputation! 🙁

So is it true that I actually do have to keep my paid subscription going if I want the addons to continue functioning? I was under the impression that things would still work no matter what updates came out I couldn’t get, I just wouldn’t get the improvements.

If this is the case I’m a bit miffed, because a) I have to keep paying indefinately, which is not the impression I got before buying and b) It’s going to be really problematic when I’m away from the pc ie on holiday, with updates coming out every couple of days, parts of the directory could stop functioning at any moment and it looks like I have to constantly check for updates.

I still have 3 add ons showing as red, I can’t find a way to update them in the plugin menu. Do I have to delete them and manually download the plugin every time from the site? Won’t this delete my settings? I have my details in the auto update section, shouldn’t I be able to do it from the plugin screen?

Also, what actually caused the original problem with all the code showing here? It got me in a real panic! :/

Thanks

Sally

Firstly to update the rest of your plugins please go to Dashboard> Updates (the update link from plugin menu seems to have disappeared, we are looking into it), deleting the plugin will likely remove all info for that plugin and remove your work so please don’t!

This update was supposed to come with a warning to that location manger needed updated too but i didn’t see it either, we are working on a system that will alert you to any updates needed, and will not cause problems like this in the future, the actual problem was because we needed to add a new function and the plugin could not find it.

You do not have to continue to pay membership if you do not wish, but you should stick to the version you have then, in future we will let user know of any version requirements for updates also.

We are only just 2 months old, the number of updates will decrease over time but at the moment we are trying to please our customers by fixing and releasing any bugs found ASAP.

Thanks,

Stiofan
