But when I try to add a listing with a different address than my default location, I get an error “Please choose any address of the [default location] only.
Feels like I am missing something …

FYI, u need to install multiLocation adons to enable this feature. Geodirectory core can be used only for one City.

Thanks

Looking good until….

My default location is a small town only 2 miles max in diameter. So I can’t add businesses just a mile down the road.

Users are disadvantaged according to their postcode?

Selecting an address using the map has validation, typing an address does not.

But the address is incorrect. It’s using the Town and County values from the default location. As my default town is on a county border and my village in the adjacent county, just over a mile away, the displayed address shows wrong county. Default Town and County is ‘sticky’.

It really is a postcode lottery for UK users.

I just did a quick test.

If default location is Greater London I can put a pin anywhere between Chiswick (west) and Belvedere (east). That’s approx 28 km scope.

If default location is Tadley, Hampshire, I have at best 5km to play with.

Not fair.

If not, you will be quite restricted.

An address 1 mile down the road in its own village (still technically within the postcode area of the town) was deemed to be outside of the town as far the Add Listing was concerned.

To fix this I installed Locations Manager plugin and set the country, region and city to default only. This appears to have fixed my issue. There is an also option in Locations Manager to disable the repositioning of the map marker – but I didn’t have to use this extra facility.

I’m not using the advanced features of the Locations Manager for anything other than to fix this issue, but it seems to work. Hope this helps.

The shortsightedness of the product for use in the UK where a small community can cross a boundary and cause these problems sucks

That’s why I ditched my evaluation of this solution and found a suitable alternative.
