"Categories" missing from list of fields for new Custom Post Type

    For gd_place, there is a default field “Category (Taxonomy)”. However, when I create a new custom post type that category field is not there – all I have is “Address (Address)”.
    I’ve tried disabling all non-GD plugins and creating a new CPT again, but it didn’t make a difference.
    It isn’t listed under the “Predefined Fields” either.

    Am I overlooking a setting somewhere?
