I have a site which will be listing services from all over the country (UK) and rather than searching for a service name, visitors will be searching by area (County, City, Village, road name, etc etc). I know this is possible with the ‘Near’ search field but it does not autocomplete. If I start typing in say ‘Oxf” for Oxford in the near field it does not autocomplete like the backed does when adding a listing. Also im not sure if just using the near field can be used in conjunction with filters like the radius (Search by distance)…

My question really is: Am I using the right approach here and how do I best use GeoDirectory for a country based services search?

The location switcher autocompletes any location that is in the database.

I would prefer if the visitor can just type directly into a search field…

Is that a solution?

Thx

Thank you I have enabled this option, however I still see Region and City as separate search areas / dropdowns in the location switcher

You can hide the regions field with CSS if you don’t want people to search by region.

So is there no current way of having one search field into which a visitor can type a region, city, village, road name?
