I believe the issue is that the likes on the FB page do not count on the actual website. I the website reflect that there is currently 6 LIKES right now where in reality there are 44 likes on FB. Is there a LIKE widget where the #’s reflect the actual likes on the FB page rather than the likes on each individual web page (e.g. Home page, Places page, Add new page)?

the like button counts the likes received from that page on your website.

This doesn’t increment likes on your facebook page or viceversa. They are totally unlinked.

To display numbers of users that likes your facebook page, you need to use another tool called like box. https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-box-for-pages

You can find the code here and use it in in a text widget in any widget area.
