You can set your site home page to be the GD home page (which you have done) and then set the default location to the city that listing is in, and turn off geo-location.
You could also add a popular post widget to your homepage that lists the event and then highlight it. You would have to narrow it down a bit by the settings and it might not work on other location pages.
The simplest might be to add a text widget and add your own content to that showing the details of the listing and linking it to the detail page.
