GeoDirectory SupportHow can I default searches to UK towns? – GeoDirectory Support https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/how-can-i-default-searches-to-uk-towns/feed Wed, 14 Jan 2026 18:29:21 +0000 http://bbpress.org/?v=2.5.14-6684 en-US https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/how-can-i-default-searches-to-uk-towns/#post-17683 <![CDATA[How can I default searches to UK towns?]]> https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/how-can-i-default-searches-to-uk-towns/#post-17683 Tue, 07 Oct 2014 13:32:09 +0000 getawaydigital I have populated this simple testbed site with a number of entries based around the town of Weymouth UK

For a number of towns near to Weymouth I can carry out searches e.g. Hotels Weymouth , Hotels Dorchester, Hotels Lyme Regis and all return results fine showing distance of the hotels from the place being searched from no problem.

However if I search Hotels Portland , a town near to Weymouth no results are found. Changing to Portland UK all works just as it should do.

I am guessing this is maybe something to do with Portland being a major city in The USA whereas the other nearby places aren’t. Is it possible to make changes so that all searches default to UK/

Cheers

Andy

(previously i was able to do that by searching for “hotel” in “portland, uk”. You can test it out here

If you directory is limited to the UK then the api searches should be limited to the uk also. under General>Searh you can also tag a UK tag on to the end of the api query if you want.

Please let us know your site address so we can take a look.

Thanks,

Stiofan
