I’d like to know if the latitude/longitude as a required field can be disabled in order to upload all of the other information. If someone has 1,000 or 2,000 businesses and they want to use your product – they are hindered by having to add the latitude/longitude on all of those a head of time. It would be easier to allow the upload without it and then go back and add latitude/longitude on each on while inside WP.

If there isn’t a way to do it – can you please tell me what file controls this function so I can take a look at it myself?

http://www.findlatitudeandlongitude.com/ has a bulk tool for conversion to lat and lng you might be interested in.

In my opinion, and I’ve been doing this type of work for years – it would be faster to have the “required” requirement removed from those two fields so that the import can happen. But it you all aren’t able to do that – please direct me to the file within the plugin that controls the import function and I will try to come up with my own code.

Thank you.

They should import just fine like that, and then you csn go into WP admin and fix as you suggest. Even adding zero for lat and lng will work, as long it is not empty.

rather than editing the import function, if you want to edit them all one by one via the back end after importing, wouldn’t it be easier to add dummy lat and long coordinates for all the listings and then correct them?

You can copy and paste the same numbers for all your listings much faster than it will take you to modify the import function.

In addition you can only modify the function editing core plugin files (considered a customization beyond support), which will make you lose all your changes after every updates.

Let us know,

Thanks

We can try that and hopefully we won’t receive any errors.

By the way, any custom functions I would need to make wouldn’t be made in the core plugin itself. I would add them to my own plugin like I have previously on another project. So I wouldn’t lose any changes if your plugin was updated.

I just find it odd, that even when asking twice – what file would contain the restricted code – no one has provided what that file is. I ask a question and don’t get the answer.

for developers wanting to do customizations we provide a searchable codex: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/codex/geodirectory_functions/geodir_ajax_import_export/

This is a core function of GeoDirectory and not everything can be customized via a 3rd plugin.

Customizations are not included in the support we provide here.

Thank you
