I have had that problem before with very large DB when nav-menus loading freeze entire site.

Does GD have any options where I can disable listings and tags to be load in nav-menus?

So how I can set (full not just popular) categories menus related to each CPT?

1. To add CTPs to your menus go to
GD > design > navigation > and add your CTPs there

2. If I understand you correctly, you would need to build your WP menu the manual way, by adding a link to each category separate

3. You can rename places this way:
GD > Custom Post Types > Edit Places and change whatever you want, but not the postname and slug

Let me know if I misunderstood your questions and if I can help more.

I added CTP there but I see nothing in “Show geodirectory navigation in selected menu locations” – empty field. What I should do?

2. Well my question is regarding serious problem with WP menus – GD add there everything – posts, taxonomies, etc. As directory will contain over 400K listings it’s would be impossible to load WP menus for edit. Usually all taxonomies and posts have true/false option to be loaded or not to nav-menus. So how I can turn off some? When I add CTP and custom taxonomies directly to function.php I can setup this optin there, but not sure where I can do it in GD.
Please see the screenshot.

3. I renamed “places” and question was about postname and slug… well I’ll stay with it for now. πŸ™‚

4. Is there any way to show all categories for each CTP instead of only few in “popular categories”?

Make sure you have set up your main menu in WP settings.
Then when you click in that field in GD navigation, you will be able to choose your main menu to be used for your GD links.

2. Right, now I get it.
And unticking some of the options in the screen options does not solve that?

3. You might be able to change the slug and postname before you have any listings and categories, but I am not sure about that. Not too sure what that would break, if anything.

4. Where are you talking about?
The popular categories widget will show all categories.
And the main map will also show all categories if you click non a different CPT.
But be aware that categories will only show if there is at least one listing in that category.

I’ll invite Stiofan to have a look at questions 2 and 3.

I have 3 menus in WP menu settings but not one appear in GD navigation.

2. Unticking on screen option only simply will not showing unticked items with js, but will load it to the page from DB anyway. That the problem. I need to prevent loading endless page. You may see it if you compare page source with screen options on and off.
What I need is disable DB call for some groups.

3. Thanks.

4. I don’t use main map; can’t do it with over 200 categories and sub-categories. πŸ™‚
Does GD have any options to format categories/subcategories list?
How can I show empty categories as well?
In the beginning most of categories are empty, but users should see where they can submit new listings. Many people just walk away if they don’t see appropriate category.

5. Ohh… one more thing – how I can disable “category default icon”? Is it possible?

4. Your categories are available in your submission form, so users can see them.
A category will only need one listing somewhere for it to start showing.
For example, if you have a restaurant in Paris, the restaurant category will show everywhere else too, with a zero count.
Just add the widget and add a few listings to check the behaviour.

5. Don’t think so, how do you intend to show listings on a map without markers?
