Many "x" in the category and tag dropdown of Add Listing Page

    Hi,

    Why are there a bunch of “x”s inside the dropdown bar of the Category and Tags section on the Add Listing page? I’ve included an image. I didn’t notice this to begin with, maybe there is a setting I changed that is interfering with it. It is an eyesore and a client questioned me about it.

    That can happen when categories are deleted in, for example, Places -> Categories, but they have not yet been removed from the listings. The categories do need to be removed from the listings. If the Xs come back after removing them then it may be a different issue, but one I haven’t seen before. In that case please share WP Admin credentials and we can take a look.

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for the info. I’ve deleted my test listing and edited the first couple of listings I’ve created to make sure they have up-to-date categories and tags. This hasn’t resolved the issue yet. I will keep looking.

    Would this problem occur if I’ve edited the category name/slug after a listing already links to that category?

    They still have the X, after you click the X to remove all the categories, save, and reload?

    No, the ID is stored, not the slug.

    Hi Alex,

    I exported all my listings into a spreadsheet and compared the default category IDs with the current category IDs. I found no IDs associated with any listing where the category ID was deleted. I did this for all three of my post types.

    I clicked into a couple listings and I don’t see the issue. Can you point me at one of the ones showing this problem?

    It’s the “Add Listing” page. Not the listings themselves.

    is it happening for existing categories while update listing or when adding one?

    because I just checked seems I can’t see the “X”.
    can you please tell me the step to reproduce them.

    Add a new listing from the frontend. When no categories are selected, it is as if the categories are invisible but the ‘x’ is visible.

    Hi Naveen and Alex,

    Thanks for looking into this. It looks so much better! I noticed that one category came up automatically and all the tags showed up as well. Is this something I can change? I would like to leave both areas empty.
