Currently I solve this by disabling the “s” input field and changing it’s value to a keyword that I make sure is a tag in all my listings.

This works but I was wondering if there was a better way of achieving the desired result.

I would do the same, either hide it with css or if you are already modifying the widget code make it invisible and add your default tag…
