I can confirm the problem is related to the theme only, because I’ve tried activating twentytwelve quickly and it doesn’t do it.

I tried commenting out an action in a theme’s file that I suspected it could be the culprit (in framework.php) and it’s throwing an error now.

I’m really sorry ,but I need FTP credentials to fix it and continue testing, because I can’t use the wordpress editor because of the error.

Without FTP though, it will be hard to find out what function the theme author added to hijack the search.

Does he provide any kind of support? If you ask him, I’m sure it will help us identify it in a fraction of the time.
