In the serach field on the map: It doesn’t search for the category name but for the title of a listing. e.g. if we search for “hotels” it doesn’t find anything even though it’s a category; if we search for “hotel” it finds all listings with the word in the title.

In the search field which is part of the theme: Again it searches for the word in the title and content but doesn’t take into consideration tags or categories.

In an external search widget (Jetpack): Same as the one integrated in the theme. It searches through the title and content but nowhere else.

In the Geodirectory search widget: same as Jetpack and Theme search fields.

So could you please advice on what could be the problem? Ideally all search fields/widgets should search a term using tags and categories instead of titles and content (e.g. a Lodge would be in the Hotels category with the hotels tag but since it’s not called HOTEL it won’t be found in any of the search fields)

the search field for the map only searches in listings titles. That is normal behaviour.

The theme search and jetpack search widget are not under our control, so I can’t answer for that.

The GeoDirectory search widget does search title, content, tags and categories. If it is not working like that for you there could be a conflict somewhere on your website.
