1. Search from homepage, enter nothing (just click search)

2. displays /?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon= I get asked to be geolocated by the plugin and asked to allow by chrome, for about 0.5 second I can see the map and listings, then it redirects to (geodir-location.php), with the “Popular Places – No listings found which match your selection.” message

3. Clicking back in browser goes to /?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon= with my geolocation in the “Near” search box, showing listings near me

1. Search for something (e.g. title of a listing I know is active AND within 10 miles of my physical location)

2. displays /?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon= I get asked to be geolocated by the plugin and asked to allow by chrome, for about 0.5 second I can see the map and listings, then it redirects to (geodir-location.php), with the “Popular Places – No listings found which match your selection.” message

3. Clicking back in browser goes to /?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon= with my geolocation in the “Near” search box, showing listings near me

5. then clicking home on nav and home map has geolocated me, zommed in to closest event

please provide a link and possibly admin credentials in a private reply and we will do some testing too.

I think the problem is related to GeoLocation settings.

Stiofan has been alerted.

Thanks

(you wp-admin details tell me they are wrong)

It seems there are a few things going on here:
#1 you have “club” set in the search fields somehow
#2 You have multilocations enabled but dont show th elocatiosn switcher anywhere.
#3 You have it set to auto locate users GD>advaced search>Disable geolocate on first load:

#2&#3 together will endup locking you in one location but you won’t be able to tell what location you are in because you dont have the location switcher widget or shortcode anywhere and you will experience similar to what you are getting now.

Thanks,

Stiofan

#2 & #3 – So if we wanted users to be able to add events anywhere in the UK and for people to find those events on their location do we need multi-locations?

#2&#3 It is recommended to show the location switcher so users can switch locations for example to London and be able to see places/events from london only, if you don’t have the locations switcher on the page but you are telling the system to auto locate them, it will set the users location to their nearest city but they won’t be able to tell that the site is only showing things from that city, so i would recommend placing the locations switcher widget soemwhere or the shortcode so users can switch locations and avoid these problems.

the only widget that you have in GD > home content section is the widget to show places and you have no places…

You will need to remove the current widget and add the GD > event listing widget to show events.

If you have doubts about GD templates, or you don’t know what the difference is between the location page (GD Home) or the listings pages (archives), I’d suggest to have a look here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/

Let us know if you need further assistance with this.

Thanks
