I’m really surprised that I can’t find a way to control how the listings are sorted on the listings page. I would like them to sort them by the listings that have paid packages first, but for the life of me I just cannot figure out where/how to so that. I can’t find the documentation for it either. Thank you very much for telling me how.

Apologies but I don’t seem to have the same options in my dashboard as in the link you include. My dashboard only offers control of what appears in the “sorting dropdown”, but not the order that the listings actually appear in.

Here is what the sorting options dashboard says, please advise again thank you:

“Click on any box below to make it appear in sorting option dropdown on Culinary listing and search results. To make a field available here, go to custom fields tab and expand any field from selected fields panel and tick the checkbox saying ‘Include this field in sort option’.”

The listings that are supposed to be “featured” (they have the premium package, not free pacakge) are NOT coming up first in the listings pages. Please advise again – thank you very much.

On the “Places Package Settings” box the “is Featured” button won’t stay checked when I update the place. Please advise on how do I get the “is featured” radio button to stay checked? thanks very much

That’s because the radio button doesn’t work per above,

Try it on ANY listing: the button to make it featured won’t stay checked when you update the listing

That is because they are on the free package, which is not featured, you can’t overrule that.

You have to change the price package accordingly too.

Where/how is this listing a free package?
Custom Post Type > Culinary > JORY – The Allison Inn & Spa

Please look at their listing page in the dashboard and explain how/why in the upper right corner of their listing page, in the package setting box, they are NOT marked as free they are marked as a culinary member $300. Below that section I try to change the radio button “is featured” to “yes” and it won’t work, just keeps resetting to “no” when I update the listing.

Still doesn’t show the listings with paid packages first on the listing pages, seems to be ordered by creation date

Hi,

I’m not sure what the problem is for you, but I went into the listing JORY – The Allison Inn & Spa set it as featured from the back end and saved and it works as expected.

If you now visit the culinary catgeory you will see that as 1st with the featured banner.

Thanks I understand how to use the featured banner.

What I don’t understand is the sort order of the listings WITHOUT using the banner. It’s my understanding that listings with PAID packages should show up BEFORE the FREE listings on the listings page – without adding the banner. Please advise if this is not the way it works, thank you.
