    Hi,

For some reason the Custom Post Type description for one of my post types has started to appear at the top of the relevant listings page for that post type, just above the search widget.

I’m a little mystified as why it has suddenly appeared and how to get rid of it. No other CTP listing page is displaying this description.

I’m using Supreme Directory and everything is up to date. Working on localhost. I’ve trawled through the Geodirectory settings several times but cannot find a reason for this. All CPTs are have the same settings barring the names.

What have I done and how can I get rid of it.

    Thanks, Anthony

    Hi Anthony,

Could you check out GD > Custom Post Type > Advanced Mode > DESCRIPTION option and see if it’s what you’re looking for? Here’s a screenshot for your reference http://prntscr.com/ek7bo5

    Thanks!

    Hi Kor,

Yes all my cpt’s have a description as per the screenshot, only now one of them is displaying that description on the front end at the top of the listings page. It had not at any point before

No other cpt is displaying this behavior and I don’t now why this is displaying the description and the other are not.

Will leaving the description field blank stop it displaying or is the description field necessary for some other purpose?

Is this field meant to display on the front end if so then why are the others not?

    Its a mystery to me

    Hi there,

Sorry, not sure what’s going on there but since the site is on a local install, we won’t be able to help much since we’ve no access to it. Do you think you could push it to a dev URL so we can check?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Is it inside the “geodir_wrapper” div ID? Well, let us know how it goes.

    Hi Kor,

Yes, it is inside “geodir_wrapper” div ID. It’s so strange as I’ve not worked on CPT’s.

Going to keep look till I find I guess.

    OK,

so I edit the description in my other CPT’s and their descriptions also show up on the listings page.

Removing the descriptions from the CPT’s and of course they don’t show, so I assume the description is meant to appear somewhere. Not sure why it appeared where it did or what triggered the appearance (I’ve been working on this site for a while) and not seen them.

Still interested to know what happened.

    Hi ginblue,

I’ve checked with a developer and he mentioned that the “CPT description” is the one I’m talking about here in GD > Custom Post Type > Advanced Mode > DESCRIPTION option http://prntscr.com/ek7bo5 . Not sure why it did not work for you. Could you double check or probably upload the entire Website to a dev site so that we could check?

    Thanks!
