Hi everyone,
I’m curious how other site builders and developers approach plugin updates — especially when the changelog suggests new features or templates, but it’s not immediately clear how to access or use them.
Take this update from GeoDirectory Events v2.3.17 (released 2025-04-03):
“GD > Event Shcedules new date templates added – ADDED”
At first glance, this sounds like new functionality — maybe display layouts, shortcode options, or formatting controls for recurring events.
But after checking:
- There’s nothing new in GD → Settings → Events.
- No visible changes in the shortcode builder or Elementor widget.
- And no front-end differences unless you're digging into the code.
This got me thinking:
Should plugin changelogs be more specific?
It would really help if developers clarified:
- Whether the update introduces actual feature availability in the backend or UI, or
- Whether it's a code-level addition (e.g. new template files, filters, or dev APIs) that requires manual implementation before users see anything new.
As a site builder, it would be great to know what’s ready to use versus what’s just extendable if we dig into the code. That way, we know where to look, and we don’t assume a feature is “missing” or broken when it’s just developer-facing.
So I’m curious:
- How do you all typically approach vague change-log entries?
- Do you inspect plugin files, check templates, run diffs, or just wait for clearer documentation?
- Has anyone figured out what this particular “new date templates” update in GD Events actually enables?
Would love to hear how others handle this kind of thing.
