Local search only

Hello all,

the helpdesk told me GD does not have an option to do what I need it do do, which is on any search executed show 'near me' results by default. So regardless where someone is: if they search for something the only results showing up are those within the set search radius f GD.

Would anyone have a solution for that?

Just to clarify your question, you want all of the searches to be "near" searches rather than "in" searches?

If so then the closest I found was to do the following:

Make sure GeoDirectory > Settings > Locations > Enable location search autocompleter? is turned off. Although it's much less user friendly, it forces a "near" search on the location entered.

that is a great help, thank you very much.

I have just tested it a bit and it seems to work like a charm. Later today I will run a more extensive test and will let you know how that went. But for now it seems to be extremely close to what I needed, so again thank you.

I tried to make it work properly, but it does not work flawlessly yet. For some strange reason just local searches works just fine, but there are some strange side-effects.

One of them is that buttons set for local search go 'numb'. On the mobile version it takes up to nine seconds for a button to react. It feels a bit like the button gets into a search-loop.

Anyway: I'm on it and as soon as I have figures out how to make a perfect local search I will update you.
