Hello,
I would like to suggest a feature that allows users to specifically disable ratings for entries from selected countries (especially EU countries).
Otherwise, I will have to remove the rating feature from GeoDirectory in the future.
The effort involved in managing ratings and resolving complaints by site operators or their lawyers makes it almost impossible to cover the costs of operation. Especially since the legal framework for customer ratings in the EU was established, the rated party can generally dispute customer contact. This triggers comprehensive review obligations for the portal, sometimes across the board for a double-digit number of negative ratings, without having to deal with the content of the respective rating or the experience report described. In my view, this makes it difficult to express opinions transparently and without bias, and favors those who actively take action against unwelcome reviews, whether justified or not.
As a review portal, you are also caught between two sides and exposed to the displeasure of reviewers when individual claims need to be substantiated. At least the discontinuation of the service is likely to somewhat diminish the business model of some less than honest players who offer flat-rate packages (with volume discounts) for deleting reviews and demand the removal of reviews using the same text modules or, in some cases, AI-generated complaints.
Best regards, Ramon
