Safe to update to PHP 8.1?

My site currently runs on PHP 7.4. Most of my plugins are from AyeCode (GeoDirectory + add-ons). I want to install a plugin that requires PHP 8.1+ but I'm leery because I can't do that only on the staging site to test it.

Are the AyeCode plugins ready for PHP 8.1? 8.2? 8.3?
Is it generally safe to try a newer version of PHP?
If I encounter problems, is it generally safe to roll back to the prior version?

Just cheked it: www.lonelyheartsads.co.uk is running on PHP 8.2.27

Resetting to a lower version is as far as I know never an issue, and when a PHP version is too high for what you want it just does not work until you have reset it to a lower version again.
