I'm trying to figure out the best way to have people give an actual mailing address. I run a community website, and not everyone wants their address shown. I have enabled private address, but I don't love the way that looks, so most have chosen to enter the town name in the address field, so I don't have an actual location for them.
I would like to have an actual address, for communication purposes, but primarily to verify if their business is local. It doesn't seem like I can use the address twice on the listing form. If I wanted to have it on the listing form, the best way seems to be using a text box for the mailing address. Is this the best way, or is there something else?
Other options that don't seem to work, like asking for the address on the invoice, but I haven't seen where that is, and there are free listings that don't use an invoice. I don't want to make it required for all website members to give their address, so using the profile address wouldn't really work, especially since most people don't maintain their profiles.
