Why do I keep getting this error when trying ot simply connect a site to a PAID and FUNCTIONING account?

"Your site returned a 401 error, please make sure you do not have a coming soon or password protection plugin running and then try again."

The site is public. Everything else works. AyeCode Connect and WP Easy Updates are installed. But when connecting to the site, the same message, every single flipping time.
