    Hello,

Search will be getting an overhaul in the next release, you will be able to add most fields as a main search bar option.

    See attached (dev demo)

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

Anything is possible, but if we set it to search all custom fields it might start giving false positives, or do you just mean the autocomplete? If you explain more i can help more 🙂

I have hospitals with different therapies stored in custom fields. Users usually don’t know names of hospitals. In that case this search box is unusable. I need option where user can search for “physiotherapy” or “Pet therapy” and find all hospitals who do that. “Search for” means that, not exact name. If i know name i will search on google, not on some directory website.

Custom fields in beta are good option and can be used. I use them in custom search, but on homepage i use one max two field for simplicity… and it’s best practice

    Thanks

    Hi,

the search for field search in title, description, category and tags. Not just the listing name.

So if for example you use “physiotherapy” or “Pet therapy” as tags or you have these words in the description, they will come up if someone search for either “physiotherapy” or “Pet therapy”.

    Just FYI.

Yes can be done, but i have predefined custom fields for therapies and services, i need search over custom fields. Tags are for another purpose. Is there some hack?
Also after last updates Custom search button appear on home page, how i can disable it? I need clean home page with two fields.
    Thank you

    Hi,

Custom fields can only be search with advance search filters.

Tags are NOT for another purpose, they are keywords used for topics discussed in a particular post.

You can hide the button in home with css, if you provide a link I will provide css.

    Thanks

Nooo 🙂 I can’t use tags. Tags provide a useful way to group related posts together etc, not for this, another way?

I can deal with css… that is not clear way but i will do it.

I’m very sorry if you decided that you can’t use tags, but as I said :

the search for field searches in title, description, category and tags.

It can’t search in custom fields too without a complex customization.

    Thank you

you can submit a feature request here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/requests/

If a very large number of users will vote for it, we will consider it.

    Thanks
