    Hi GD Team,

    I have important concerns:

    1. I’m encountering a bug wherein when you update an event or place, It will be stuck in a post loop adding multiple entries of that particular post under the “post” post type. It will loop until your server returns error. ๐Ÿ™

    2. How do you make “Preview Changes” work?

    To replicate the bug(CONCERN#1).
    1. Edit an existing event or page. Click “Preview Changes”. The result is that I am unable to preview my listing.
    2. Now go back to the one you have edited and click update. It will load endlessly and WordPress will tell you that you have lost connection. You will encounter a server error.
    3. After the process is stopped or finished. Look at your posts page (http://localhost/cckdev/wp-admin/post.php) You will see duplicate posts of the event or place you have updated. In my case it created 546 duplicate copies.

I already tried it and replicated it in 2 different WordPress installations.

Please let me know if anyone encounter this as well.

I need a response ASAP since I’m on a tight deadline and I bought this plugin hoping it would help me in my development.

    Please advise. GD team.

    Thanks

    2. Preview changes from the backend doew not work with GD posts, because the custom fields etc.

Are you using the latest versions of everything?

Please post your URL and admin in a private message so we can have a look for you.

Please update your GD plugins. The duplicate bug was fixed 1 or 2 versions ago.

@guust I’ve updated all the plugins. GeoDirectory and 3 add ons. The problem still occurs. Tried clicking the “Update” button an event and place twice and it still duplicates posts. ๐Ÿ™

    1. I have replaced and overwrite my wordpress installation with the latest version of WP 4.1.1
    2. Used and activated the default theme twenty-fifteen. Disable all plugins except GeoDirectory.
    3. Updated Geodirectory and it’s add-ons to the latest version.
    4. The ISSUE still occurs. When I go to places and Edit one of the posts, Click “Update” button it will keep loading(loading gif keeps spinning) then next thing will happen is Server Internal Error.
    5. When I refresh. I check my /wp-admin/edit.php Posts page, posts are duplicated up to 500 copies of the same post I have edited.

    Please help GD Team. ๐Ÿ™

This does not happen for me, it is likely that you have a SESSION stuck from an old version, try from another broweser to confirm it does not happen, if so then that is the problem, you can clear all sessions by simply restarting the browser (maybe best to restart the computer) then please confirm it does not happen anymore.

Hi @stiofan Thanks for the response.

    1. I’ve tried clearing my session, clear cookies, restart my computer. Tried from three different computers.
    2. I’ve tried on my 2 different local copies(Updated and fresh install).
    3. I’ve only activated the twenty fifteen theme and only Geodirectory as a plugin activated.
    3. You are correct that when I clear my cookies and sessions. It becomes okay again. I also used incognito window to test.
    4. But when I do click “Preview Changes”, then click “update” on my post. The problem occurs again. ๐Ÿ™ Me clicking the “Preview Changes” triggers the ISSUE.
    5. This issue occurs on the EVENTS and PLACES Post type. Not on the normal Post type.

    Please help. ๐Ÿ™

Is this happening when clicking preview changes in the backend?

Because listing edited from the backend can’t be even previewd.

    I’ll alert Stiofan.

    Let us know,

    Thx

    Hi @stiofan @paolo

Thanks for working on this issue.

    1. When you said you were able to recreate did that mean that it was a bug in Geodirectory plugin that’s causing this? I just want to confirm so I won’t be looking in other places to search what’s causing the issue.

    2. I updated my Geodirectory and yes, there is no more “Preview Changes” button. ๐Ÿ™ Can I ask why “Preview Changes” is not possible or the post cannot be previewed?

    3. Does Geodirectory have any similar function or feature to “Preview Changes”? Because I need that function for me to look at my listing or post before making it LIVE so I can avoid mistakes and also so I can see how my New Listing looks before making it LIVE/PUBLISHED.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

1.GD posts need to be saved before they can be viewed.
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/release-of-gd-1-4-3/#post-36727

2.Because there are too many additional custom fields etc, so that GD listings are not really like WP posts, although they are based on WP post structure.

3.Just add your listings from the frontend, then you will be able to preview before publishing.

    @guust Thanks for the response.

    1. I Understand.
    2. OK.
    3. So do you mean that if I input a listing manually through the BACKEND(Like add new Place) there is no way to PREVIEW it before publishing and making it live?

    Thanks

    3. Save as draft, and then look on the top of the page.
You will see a link “Place draft updated. Preview Place”

Or from the list of places, your draft places will have a preview link.

Essentially, GD posts need to be saved before viewing, and saving as draft will do the trick.
