Today we released the 1st BETA version of the Location Manager for GeoDirectory V2 and a new update for the Core plugin V2 that includes the V1 to V2 converter.
Location Manager V2 BETA
We haven’t really added any new features to the Location Manager V2.
Instead we focused on improving its code and making better settings pages.
Other than that, we focused on 1 major improvement.
The UI and UX of the central component of this add-on:
The new Location Switcher
The New Location Switcher opens in a modal window (lightbox type), perfectly responsive for mobile devices.
It allows to search for a location by name.
It allows to be Geo Located.
It shows the chronology of the locations recently visited and it shows the most popular locations.
We also made it easier to clear the selected location and go back to default.
Hovering the pinpoint icon with your mouse cursor next to the location name will make it appear a X to clear the location.
(Yes, the same will be available for the Advanced Search add-on)
V1 to V2 converter
If you install the latest release of the Core GeoDirectory Plugin (V126.96.36.199) on a website that has or had V1 installed, the conversion tool will popup an alert.
We recommend to test this on staging website 1st and to always take a backup of your database before running the tool.
If you click the “Run GeoDirectory V1 to V2 data conversion” everything will be done in the background and this action is not reversible.
Reason why having a backup is primordial.
You don’t need to update the Location Manager V2 before starting the conversion, but it would be better.
In any case make sure to update immediately after having done the conversion.
Current members and customers who purchased the Location Manager individually, will find the Zip file for the new Location Manager BETA V2 in their account page.
The location manager V2 can be installed manually, by uploading the zip file from the plugins page of your WordPress dashboard.
IF WP Easy Updates is updated to its latest version (wpeasyupdates 1.1.6), you can Enable the settings in GeoDiretory V2 to allow the install of BETA Add-ons.
At that point you will be able to update from the Location Manager V1 to V2 BETA automatically.
The setting can be found in GeoDirectory > Settings > Developer > Enable beta addons.
Next week we should be able to release the BETA version of the new Social Importer and we’ll continue working on other add-ons that are almost ready.
The next big add-on to be released in BETA will be the Advance Search Add-on.
We hope you will enjoy testing the Location Manager V2 BETA.
We remind you that this is not ready for a production website.
We invite you to report bugs in the LMV2 dedicated forum.
