Today we released the 1st BETA version of the Social Importer Add-on for GeoDirectory V2 ( you can download it from your account area now ).

As you might have noticed from the image above we have added support for TripAdvisor 🙂

Facebook

With the recent changes to facebook’s API policy causing havoc for pretty much anyone that uses it, we decided we needed a long term solution for Social Importer. SI V2 now has an option to override the api settings and use a more general url data parser. The results are very similar and require no setup at all (compared to the 4-6 week facebook API submission process).

Additionally business hours will now also be imported from facebook if the page has it.

The normal facebook API credential settings remain and we still plan to support this method in the future.

Yelp

The yelp API settings remain pretty much the same, their API is simple to signup for and use so we have not had to implement anything further for it.

TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor support is a new addition for V2 and much like facebook their API is not truly public or easy to access and until it is we have implemented the same general url parser we use for facebook.

We need your help

Some of the features in Social Importer V2 are experimental at the moment and we need your help to iron our any issues so we can get it out of beta ASAP.

If you find any bugs, issues or want to give us general feedback please post them on the dedicated forum: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/forum/social-importer-add-on/siv2-beta/

Thank you,

Team GeoDirectory 🙂
