display short category descrips on homepage

i’d like to display short category descriptions in the category table/list on the homepage, kinda like the attached pic

i’m not sure if you would need to take from the main category description for each cat or is there is a short descrip and a long descrip, so that you could use the short descrip, just not sure

the cat text below each cat name would be truncated to x chars or words i guess to keep the overall category list pretty tight

the idea is to help visitors to understand the various categories that the site offers

the default geodir system does not display cat descrips in the homepage cat list

what might you charge for this?

would the hack be pretty easy to carry over to upgrades of wp and geodir? (i know, guessing, but if it’s pretty minor, my guess is that i might not be too difficult to keep it active)
