How can we change the words on the listing other than “Send Enquiry”?

    Hi Wendy,

You can replace the words using the translation file: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translate-core/ . Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!

Way too complicated to change two words.

Can I just edit the .po file using FTP or Cpanel File Manager?

    Hi,

that is the standard way to translate/rephrase default text strings within a theme or a plugin.

The other option would be to change the code directly, it’s more complex and every time there is an update you should change it back.

It looks complicated, but it’s much simpler than you may think.

    Thanks

Those instructions look like changing or creating an entire new language.

Can you give a short instruction on how to change an existing file?

    Hi,

that’s the only correct way to change (translate or rephrase) 1 string or all strings in a theme or plugin.

It’s only 6 easy steps and after that you can forget about it.

Trust me it takes less than 5 minutes once you try it and once you get used to it, it would take approx 30 seconds.

    Thanks

Ok, just need a little direction please.

    1. Where do I get the current .po file?

Then I make the change with POEdit.. Got that.

Then, I compile / export to a .mo file… Got that.

    2. Where do I then put the .mo file?

    1) Open the .po file for GD core in poedit, this is located in the core plugin language folder (either download the plugin to your computer, extract it and locate the file or download it from your server via FTP or cPanel.)

    2) /wp-content/languages/geodirectory/geodirectory-en_US.mo (this must be done via FTP or cPanel).

Which one… the Starter Directory or the Supreme Directory?

the .po file for GD core… this is located in the core plugin language folder.

    wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-languages/geodirectory-en_US.po

    Thanks

Ok, got it. It is in the plugin directory not the theme!

I downloaded the .po file, then made the change(s), then compiled and uploaded ONLY the .mo file.

I got one of my changes (wanted comment box placeholder words removed), however I made changes to line 631 and 1448 to both say “Send Email” instead of “Send Enquiry”, and the pages still say “Send Enquiry”?

Attached are the lines I changed in the .po. Again, I ONLY uploaded the .mo file, not the .po file.

Please advise on how to make the “Send Enquiry” say “Send Email”
