I use geodirectory for the website uni-buchhandlung.de. Initially everything worked fine, but now the places are no more displayed on the homepage map, but only listed below (e.g. http://www.uni-buchhandlung.de/location/germany/baden-wuerttemberg/tuebingen/). However, when searching for places in the same city, all places are displayed correctly on the map: http://www.uni-buchhandlung.de/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=T%C3%BCbingen&sgeo_lat=48.5216364&sgeo_lon=9.057644799999935

The Home/Location map is being tripped up by some error.
Can you please post your WP admin details in a private reply, then we can have a look for you.

I think you have a conflict with your theme, I’ll get the developers to have a look.

    Hi,

I think the problem is that you have places assigned to a subcategory, but not the parent catgeory.

A listing imported with a sub-category should always have the parent category too.

You could export the listings, correct them adding the main category too and import them again to update them.

Let us know if that helped.

    Thanks

I moved all categories to the firstvlevel and now it works again. Thank you for this important hint. Now I only need to get rid of the “add entry” menu which was not there before. Where can I disable it?

Here is some additional background information for the developers to fix the problem in general: The backend does not allow to add a place only with a sub-category. However, I could add places with the first level category, add a sub-category afterwards and delete the first level category then. Although the place was then left only with a sub-category, no problem occured!

The problem only raised when I had to add places via the frontend due to some problems with locating the places on the backend map. The frontend allows adding a sub-category without adding a first level category first. Doing this caused the problem even for places that I had added via the backend first.

I asked to the developers to make sure that front end and back end work exactly the same.

    Thanks
