Hi support,
I am not sure if I have to put this here but here is what I noticed and I am wondering how to handle that in the best possible way for the end users.
Let’s do the test with the Supreme Theme Demo:
http://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/
Location search 1:
In the Location field I start to write New York. There are 2 suggestions coming (City) and (Region). I choose New York (City) and I get 20 results. In this case I cannot apply radius search and the search results are not arranged by distance but by Featured listings coming first.
URL: http://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=&set_location_type=3&set_location_val=2&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
Location search 2:
In the Location field I write New York as a word without choosing from the drop down suggestions. I get completely different results – results are arranged by distance, and I can control them via the radius search – different results regarding the search radius are coming.
URL: http://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=New+York&sgeo_lat=40.7127837&sgeo_lon=-74.00594130000002
This double behavior is not intuitive for the end user. It creates confusion and opens up questions for the end user that can reflect in misunderstanding the logic, thinking that it simply doesn’t work properly.
From one side the end users love the location suggestions coming because they avoid misspellings. But choosing from them without the possibility to use the radius search makes the location search sort of useless in half of the cases.
What would you suggest to do about this behavior of the location search? Is it possible the radius search to be active when choosing from the drop-down location suggestions?
Thanks.
