I was thinking of presenting a 5 minute overview and review of GeoDirectory at our local WP Meetup group. I was wondering if you had some Powerpoint or video I could use as a basis for this?
I see you have some very helpful training videos on Youtube, but there doesn’t seem to be any short (2 minute) profile type video.
Just a few other thoughts about your marketing while I think of it.
I don’t think you mention or at least make it obvious how many installations there are. Did I see 8,000 some where?
When I was looking at GeoDirectory, I don’t think I found the forums as it is only down the bottom of the page. I think you should make this more prominent as it shows how good your support is and how active the community is. By the way, so far I have been very impressed with your support, both in speed of response and quality of response.
It might also be worth mentioning the membership starting from $60 for 4 months. I personally find the money back guarantees less appealing as they are often a hassle to chase up, whereas $60 didn’t seem like much of risk.
I think it might be worth encouraging some more users to add their sites to the showcase. The quality of some of those already in the showcase isn’t that great and I have stumbled across some other sites that seem very good (www.accessible-japan.com) that aren’t in the showcase. The sites almost need to be categorized by the plugins they are using.

July 14, 2016 at 1:31 am #227056Craig, how did you determine that site was powered by GD?
July 14, 2016 at 9:32 am #227145They mentioned it in these forums and I contacted the owner to chat about a GeoDirectory and their site. We both have web sites with a focus on Japan.
July 14, 2016 at 12:44 pm #227236This is a great idea. Perhaps having a marketing pack that members could download. I am heading to WordCamp MTL at the end of the month and this could be the basis for a presentation that would definitely generate publicity for GD.
Perhaps outsource the idea to a group of members to work on so the developers can focus on coding and less on publicity?
Craig can you email me directly at mark(at)pleasureprimer(dot)com?
Thanks!
July 14, 2016 at 4:17 pm #227311Hi Craig,
we are working now on a videogram presentation and a video tutorial to create a free city portal with GD and Supreme. I’ll let you know as soon as they are ready, however we are just getting started and it could take some time.
Stiofan spent several hours optimizing the website last week, mainly the network structure and general speed. We still have to move the forum on a separate website of the network (to make both forum and sales site faster) and fix few features of the blog. After that we will start working on improving the UI too. I agree it’s time to show that we have more than 100k downloads and +8000 active installs. That info currently is only available in the wordpress.org page for our plugin. As far as making the forum more visible, we will definitely consider that too.
The $60 membership is the best option for the user and for us too, I’ll take note of this suggestion as well. We’ll make sure to mention it in the home page too.
However we stand behind our refund policy. If we have been given at least one chance to fix whatever was not working as we specify in our support policy, we refund with no exceptions.
I’d love to see more customer’s websites in our showcase section too. After home and support it’s one of the most visited page, however we can’t force users to do so… Whenever we come across a nice website we ask directly, but not always we can get what we want… Hopefully this will change in the future.
Thank you very much for the feedback.
July 14, 2016 at 7:25 pm #227446Hi Paolo,
I wasn’t suggesting you don’t stand by your refund policy and I think it is good that you have one. To me, when in shopping mode for something like GeoDirectory, I know that it is hassle to chase down a refund, so I prefer the lower risk entry (membership option).
In terms of placing more emphasis on the forum, just placing it on the top menu would be a good start. Only having it on the bottom of the page tends to imply it isn’t important.
