My application is a listing of services in the Virgin Islands. However, I am expanding my product to include all the islands in the Lesser Antilles (Puerto Rico to the ABC Islands).
Here’s the question, what are the repercussions of editing the countries table in the databases. My users will (hopefully, otherwise the product will not be very workable) pull up listings by island.
The way it is now, if they wanted to find classes and services on St. Barths, for instance, the listings would appear under French(Other). Even more confusing is The Dutch Caribbean (which is how it appears in the database). This includes six islands, three of which are 1000 miles away from the other three. Not very intuitive. What would happen if I changed the countries table to reflect the Caribbean Islands?? I would then disable google maps and use a dropdown selector to deliver pages from the island of choice.
