I’d like to export some listings from places/accommodation into (cpt) accommodation/hotel.
Is it possible to only export certain listings, as not all my ‘places’ listings are hotels.

    Hi,

you’ll need to export all the Places and change the CPT name only for the listings needed. Re-import and only the edited listings will be updated.

    Thanks

oh blimey, that’s a lot of data all over the place.
Ive opened the csv file with openoffice. Do you have any tips for viewing the data?
I cant work out whats what!

in the image attached you can see how it should look like. Each column has a heading and below there is the corresponding data.

Is this how you see your file? If not, it means that you are not opening as a CSV (comma separated). You are probably using tab or semicolon as data delimiter.

You can set that while opening the file, see the 2nd image attached.

    Let us know,

    Thanks

    that worked brill, thanks Paolo.

I want to import into cpt ‘petrol stations’ and already have GD places/petrol stations.
Also, I already have GD places accommodation and want to import into cpt accommodation/hotels
So, how do I make sure the data is imported to the right table?
Do I have to delete all existing data?

    Hi,

each custom post type has different CPT name. gd_place is the default. Al lthe other have name that start with gd_ and the name you assigned.

You need to change the post_type column from one to the other according to your needs.

    Thanks

would it be possible to delete all the categories and add them manually from the backend?
Just thinking I don’t know the correct wording to enter

    Hi,

yes you must enter the correct categories and default category too.

It’s best if you do it before importing. Wording to be use is the category name.

    Thanks

oh heck, now its asking if I want to save in ODF format or keep the current (which it says may not be compatible with csv)

Always use CSV, you can ignore that message.

You should be able to edit the category name at Places [or other CPT] > Place [or other CPT] Categories.
