    Hi GD-Team & forum members,

I really need your comments because I am kind of confused.
When I started my project with GD, initially I wanted to add new listings manually.
So interested people would send me the requested information and pictures via a form and I would add this to the section where usually the place description is (profile tab).
This means, I could present the data/pictures I requested in a special way (but with the same pattern for every listing).

Then I thought that having an automatic “add new listing” with payments sounds great but as far as I understood, what I described above is not possible without customizations right?
Or do I not know how to use GD properly 🙂

    Regards,
    Fatih

The default automated form will allow users more freedom than following a set layout as you seem to want.
So you have a few options.

    1. Use the automated form, and create a layout for the GD detail page that meets what you want.

    2. Use the automated form to accept submissions, but have them go to draft, so you can use re-work the data submitted as you please.

    3. Build a custom form that collects the data you want, and then create the listings yourself in the backend.

    Does that help?

    Hi Guust,

thank you for your quick reply.

    1) I think this means a customization right?

    2) This seems to be the best solution to avoid customization. Can I directly implement the submitted data? For example instead of copy and pasting the submitted description using some kind of shortcode, same goes with images instead of re-uploading via media library.
I assume having all important data in the gd database is benefitial if I later change templates or export to another hosting service and so on, would you agree?

    3) That was my initial approach. However I think 2) is better and easier.

    Regards

    1. All depends, you can move the location of custom fields, tabs, sidebars etc, all from the backend wit a few clicks etc.

    2. Without knowing how you intend to rework, I am not sure how to answer.
But if you just want to integrate the images etc into the description, the simplest would be just do it in the listing in the backend.
There would be no need to create new pages or posts etc.

    Thanks

I tried to upload a picture to explain what I am planning for 2. in a better way.
To focus on the example, the user has submitted some information via “timing” field.
Now, my question is, can I just implement this via editor, like with a shortcode?

Basically, I do not want to create a new page.
I want to hide all tabs except the profile tab and rearrange all the information that was submitted in a way I like it to have, at least I hope that this is possible 🙂

It would be way simpler to create a new tab where the timing field is displayed, but hide the heading of the tab with CSS or leave empty.
    See https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/

Then it will automatically be shown where you want it. Nothing required from your end.
That is more like suggestion #1.

    Thanks

    Thank you very much,
I think now I get your point.
I will try this asap, but my first assumption is that this should solve the problem. Will try out asap, would be great if this topic is not closed for a couple of days.

But as i have said I am optimistic.
The only thing that remains now is showing the pictures in the images tab in a responsive way on mobile 🙂

    Hi Guust,

I used the past weeks to work with the custom fields in Detail.
In fact, I think GD is very powerful, once you start understanding how things work 🙂

Just a very short final question. Any ideas how I could post the adress and so on not on the side bar but at any place I want?
Like for example on the more info tab.

    Regards

Have a look at the “show in what locations” option for the address field.
You can select the “more info” tab there if you like.

    Thanks
