Make default category image show on listing?

Hello again,

We’re currently using Soliloquy to create a slider based on recent businesses submissions (that pulls images from each listing), and we’ve come to realise that the slider will break as soon as a business listing without an image shows up. I’ve made a quick & dirty “no image available” picture that would work perfectly with the slider and set that as the default image, but the default image won’t actually show up on the listing, and therefore won’t show up on the slider.

Is there something we can change to make the default image actually show up on the listing, in the event that someone submits a listing without an image? We’d like not to have to resort to making it mandatory for users to upload an image with their listing, if possible.

Do you mean you’ve tried this “Upload listing no image” feature https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#listings but it did not help?

Yes, I specified the same image under Upload image no image as I did for the categories’ default images. Still no image shows up in an image-less listing. Is there something wrong with my version of the plug in or is this a general problem?

Hello,

If I understand you correctly, when you say “no image shows up in an image-less listing” you mean the image is not showing up as expected in the Soliloquy slideshow, which is a different plugin, yes?

You might want to try a different plugin to accomplish this, to set the featured image for the listing in a different way. Here’s something: https://wordpress.org/plugins/default-featured-image/

Hi,

the no image is only used in archive and search result pages as thumbnail. Where it would break grids if missing.

We don’t use it on the listing by default, because it doesn’t break anything. You should add a conditional function to the soliloquy slider to return nothing if there are no images.

Thanks for all of your support! Alex’s suggestion of using the “default featured image” plugin worked perfectly, I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before.

I’m happy to hear that, we’ll definitely add it in the suggested plugins. I had never heard of it either! 🙂
