Hi,
I want to share the most consistent feedback we get from our Supreme Directory style deployment. Almost every time I show the directory to someone new and watch them navigate it, they fall into this trap. So when in the split view (listings on the left and map on the right), most users expect to extend the map on the right to see more listings or narrow down the search by zooming in. They’re also left with the impression that whatever search they made or category they’re viewing, that all the search results are displayed on the map… even thought there is a page number indication on the left side of the screen.
Obviously implementing a map search or narrow down feature would be fantastic, but I realize that it might be a huge piece of development.
The only work around I can think of is to display 1000 listings before creating a second page, but that could affect performances.
I was wondering you’d consider a UI improvement with a text or banner to display on the map that explains that the map is a representation of the specific listings on the left page ? Or even bringing a nice page switcher on top of the map to make it clear that there are more listings than those showing.
Best,
Marc
