    Hi,

I am using GD with Supreme Directory theme.

How could I insert a playable audio file in a GD html field?

The audio player looks fine in the Back End (see attached screenshot Audio Back End), but it does not show in the Front End (see attached screenshot Audio Front End) and instead it only shows html.

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your attention.

    Best regards.

    Hello!

That requires a customization described here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/file-upload-custom-field-shortcode/

Let us know how it goes

    Hi Alex,

    Thank you for your response.

I will not try this. I do not know about programming and I am affraid I could break something.

What I can not understand is why the back end shows the audio player while the front end does not.

    Thanks anyway.

    Best regards.

If you want to enable shortcodes for a custom field you will need to customize the snippet here:

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/shortcodes-in-listing-tabs/#post-290527

Shortcodes are only ever enabled by default on the description field, which is the post content field.

They work on the backend because the editor is rendering them, not the front end html.

    Hi Alex,

Great! I managed to make it work! At the end, it was not so complicated! 🙂

Thank you very much for your attention.

    Best regards.

    Hi again,

But I have a question: why shortcodes are not enabled by default in GD customs fields? For security reasons? For efficiency reasons? For other reasons?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much once again for your attention.

    Best regards.

That is the default for WordPress. WordPress is easy to use because there are many assumptions about how it functions, and so plugins do not change those assumptions, as a general rule, leaving that to the site managers to install plugins or modifications to meet their own needs.
