We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    Send to friend is working fine.

    Make an enquiry returns with a success message but the emails do not arrive. The are shown as successful when tracking in cpanel.

    If I set the owner mail to an account hosted on the same server as geodirectory then it works ok.

    My question is what is the difference between the way the emails are sent- I suspect a DNS or server setup issue but why does one email type work and not the other?

    It depends on the destination mail server. Some configurations are more strict than others. Some providers are very strict and they decline to even accept to talk if not all of their restrictions are met.
    You should ask your admin to check the emaillog to see why the email is not delivered. In my cases it was always a misconfiguration of my server. Strict mail servers will check if your rDNS (reverse DNS) fits to the rest like the halo message. Also passed SPF and DKIM should help. This is part of the mail server settings. My advise: talk to your admin.

    Try changing the default subject “Website Enquiry” to something more specific at GD > Notifications > Other emails > Email enquiry

    Some hosts’ spam settings are so high they trash emails with that subject.

    Yes, GoDaddy is known to kill the emails with that subject line before they are sent.

    It appears to be successful when the word Enquiry is removed from the subject so still issues with Your Enquiry, New Enquiry etc. We changed to New Message From …. and it now works fine so can be closed.

    Is it a common issue though, or just us? If common maybe update the delivered subject text 🙂

    It is a GoDaddy issue, everyone that hosted by GoDaddy has the problem because of their settings.
